St. Benedict Mission was officially opened on February 28, 1922, under the supervision of Rev. Brouillet, a missionary priest from Stanstead, PQ.  On March 5, 1922, a house purchased for $800.00 from Mr. Henry L. Church was converted into a small chapel for Sunday mass.  On July 3, 1946, St. Benedict Mission became a mission of St. Edward Church in Derby Line.  In 1947, Rev. Armand P. Fortin obtained permission from Bishop Edward F. Ryan to erect a new church.  Construction was completed for the celebration of Mass on Christmas Eve, 1947.
